Prof. Dr. Abdul Khaliq, Minister of Higher Education, inspected, on April 29th , 2015, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Roshdy Zahran, in charge of the conducting business of Alexandria University and Prof. Dr. Sediq Abdul Salam, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Mokhles, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Smouha Emergency Hospital to check the progress of work in the hospital. He inspected the outpatient clinics, unit of brain catheter and spinal cord, the unit of blood donation and units of intensive care, CT scan and Interventional Radiology. In addition, He praised the sections developed within the hospital, blood bank and new emergency and binoculars gastro-intestinal tract. Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, the Supervisor of the Emergency Hospital noted the Hospital is open to the public 24 hours a day and receives cases of ambulances around the clock. He added that it receives cases of government aid three days a week and public and private cases every day
The Minister also visited the Children's Hospital in Smouha. He visited outpatient clinics and preparations of operating premature unit. He praised the modern furnishings and preparations within the hospital and confirmed that the ministry is ready to provide all the support and operation of the hospital in the nearest time and overcome all the obstacles, the most importantly shortage of specialist nursing necessary for the operation of the hospital in the medical and surgical various specializations.
Prof. Dr. Sameh Shehata, the General Supervisor of Smouha Hospital declared that the experimental operation of the hospital has been started by organizing three workshops to train young doctors on Endoscopic surgery in children and specialists from all over the Republic participated in it. He also referred to the opening of outpatient clinics to receive the children infected with Virus C and allergies, rheumatism clinics are to be opened as well as preparations to run 10 nurseries gradually until reaching full power to run the hospital. He also pointed out that the hospital comprises 370 beds, 49 equipped nurseries, 22 specialized outpatient clinics specialized in Medicine and Surgery of children, 4 operating rooms equipped for all children surgeries, 7 halls for teaching and 8 beds of intensive care .
